I'm going to update my original post above, but I was able to (finally) resolve the issue and wanted to share the solution. Thanks to some Internet searching, I learned of some settings in the Frontier/Netgear DSL modem/routers that is (as far as I can tell) designed to aid in forwarding various services through the router/firewall. From there, I was able to track it to the 'ALG' setting in the Port Forwarding area of the modem/router firmware. Here's what I did:

She is using Cisco AnyConnect to remote in. The DC/DNS server is using 8.8.8.8 for its DNS Forwarder. Oddly enough when I connect to the network here in the office, DNS forwarding out to 8.8.8.8 works as intended, so there is an issue in the ASA 5510 setup for the VPN. Hello All, We have Cisco 5545-x & we running SSLVPN anyconnect. When we do tracert 1st hop is showing public of outside interface. We have configure tunnel route toward inside. But when do same think form other firewall it show next hope of firewall inside ip.

Cisco Anyconnect Keeps Disconnecting And Reconnecting After 1 ...

  1. Login to the DSL modem/router via the web interface
  2. Click on 'Advanced' at the top menu
  3. Click on 'ALG' under the section to the left denoted by the red toolbox icon
  4. Remove the checkmark for IPSec and click 'Apply'
  5. Reboot the modem/router

After doing this, I was able to successfully connect using the Cisco VPN Client software- hope this helps the next poor soul that runs into this! Hopefully it will save you that many hours over many days of troubleshooting it took me...

EDIT: Additional note- my home DSL router/model is a Netgear 7550 model, while it appears that both of the employees were issued the (presumably newer) Netgear D2200D model. The VPN seemed to pass through the 7550 model without an issue, so this may be an issue that's model specific.

I can't make a VPN connection with the latest Cisco AnyConnect Client version 3.0.2052. I have heard that there can be issues with the McAfee Antivirus Plus software that can cause this to happen. Has anyone had a similar problem and if so what recommendations do your have to resolve the the issue. Cisco Anyconnect keeps disconnecting and reconnecting after 1 minute or so. Hi Guys, Hopefully someone can help me, we are having numerous users (not all) having an issue whereby when they connect to VPN using Cisco Any-connect (Version 4.3.04030) it keeps dropping the connecting after 1 minute or so maybe even 1 minute 10 seconds. Now Cisco AnyConnect will say ‘ NAM service unavailable ‘ Now Windows will use the native WiFi client to connect to the WiFi When you reboot your system, the NAM service will start and may cause problem again. You can disable this service in Services management console to prevent that.

I use Cisco AnyConnect on my Windows 7 computer to make VPN connections. It also has capability to connect to WiFi. But I always had problems in connecting toWiFi with AnyConnect. Connection drops frequently and it keeps saying ‘Acquiring IP address‘.

Cisco

AnyConnect installs a service called ‘Network Access Manager‘ which seems like takes over the native Windows WiFi connecting client. So when I click on the network icon in the System tray it says ‘No connections are available'(See below snapshot). Without AnyConnect, it always displays the WiFi connections available.

Cisco Anyconnect Vpn Problems

If you are facing the problem then you can try the following solution that worked for me.

Anyconnect issue - Cisco Community
  • Open Services management console by running Services.msc from Run
  • Find the service ‘Cisco AnyConnect Network Access Manager‘.
  • Right click and stop the service.
  • Now Cisco AnyConnect will say ‘NAM service unavailable
  • Now Windows will use the native WiFi client to connect to the WiFi
  • When you reboot your system, the NAM service will start and may cause problem again. You can disable this service in Services management console to prevent that.

AnyConnect has settings to disable the NAM feature. But that did not work for me. Even after disabling NAM service, I could not connect to WiFi. Windows network icon shows the WiFi connection but gives the error ‘Windows was not able to connect to…‘. I followed the below steps to do this.

  • Opened Anyconnect window and click on Advanced.
  • Clicked on ‘Networks’ tab in the left side pane.
  • Clicked on Configuration tab. Changed the NAM to disabled as shown below.
